A brief note on the instructions...
After the video was completed, I realized that I made a couple of mistakes - namely, saying, "However it is easier than box pleating." and then trying to show something that was outside of the camera's view. I hope y'all found them helpful, and if I can do anything else to assist the pleating, please let me know.
God bless y'all!
Love,
Jessica

White flannel...and pink thread
I used the chemise/shift pattern from McCalls 4548 - just adding a five inch ruffle to the bottom, and using bias tape around the neck instead of folding it over.

Young Confederates
Looking around for patterns or ready-mades for the boys, this is what I came across:
As far as patterns go, Period Impressions has both pants and shirt patterns, which can be found here: Period Impressions Boys. The review of both patterns are on here: Great Pattern Review.
Or, if ready-mades look good at this point, Ott's Sutlery has the best prices, and I've actually seen their finished clothing - they do a good job with them.
I hope that helps, and if there's anything else I can do, just let me know!
God bless!
Love,
Jessica

Dressing the Little Ladies
After taking a quick look at Mrs. Clark's website, I am very pleased to say that even the tiny ladies are able to use the basic girls' dress pattern that we have. I think the size 1 will fit Anny and Emma, with little or no tweaking. The skirt length for babies once they start walking is about mid-calf. And for a baby in arms the dress would be full length.
If anyone has any questions just let me know and I shall answer them as best as I can. :)
I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Jessica

Greetings...
And welcome to A Civil Seamstress!
Hopefully sometime in the near future I shall be able to share photos and videos of Civil War era clothing construction.
Until then...
God bless!
